So…Marta Cleans Up, Book One of the Housekeeping Detective Series is no longer exclusive to Amazon. I thought I’d give Kindle Unlimited (of which I am a customer) a shot for this book (and all of the rest of my books) to see what would happen.
For a while, good things happened. And then they stopped happening. See the picture for more details:
I don’t know how closely you can see the ^ first section (bar graph in gray), but the sales span two months. In two months’ time, I sold two books. Ouch. The second part of the picture (bar graph in orange) features how many pages of Kindle Unlimited were read. This here applies to all of my books on Kindle Unlimited.
Exclusivity hurts, I think. Well, it’s definitely hurting me. For that reason, Marta Cleans Up, Book One of the Housekeeping Detective Series is no longer exclusive to Amazon. You can get a copy at Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Scribd, and Smashwords.
It would be egregious if I did not give Smashwords the credit for listing my books at all of the ebook retailers. Not only does Smashwords sell e-books, it distributes your e-books to other e-book retailers for you! (It’s not easy to convert your book to a Smashwords edition, but is still worthwhile).
I don’t know what results will yield from my having taking Amazon’s exclusivity away from Marta. As we speak, Marta Bleaches Everything, Book Two of the Housekeeping Detective Series, is nearing its end at Kindle Unlimited. I will also be uploading it to Smashwords.
I might still go back to Kindle Unlimited. But not for a while.
Thanks for reading!
