As a self-published author, I’ve read about e-books being pirated and resold. It sucks. But this is a new one – e-books being sold over e-bay. I am COMPLETELY shocked over this.
As evidenced by other blog posts, I love this book – The Life Changing Method of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo – and have recommended it to many of my friends. Here is a screen shot of the listing on Amazon:
This is where I bought my copy of the book. Now here is the link to the e-bay listing for the e-book:
$3.99 for the ebay copy versus the $7.26 on Amazon. If I were the unscrupulous type of person who didn’t care about jumping through hoops to get an illegal download on my Kindle, I’d go for the cheaper one.
However, I am an independent writer, and I care.
The truth is that I am not 100% that the ebay book is illegal. However, with Amazon, Barnes and Noble and iTunes books listing it for $7.26 to $7.99, I am assuming that the ebay version is illegal.
If you are a writer, keep an eye out for your works. If you are a reader, please consider how you acquire your books.
